Although I am working on using my L6 Helix more for possible live use, for recording, my old faithful Scuffham S Gear still l blows it out the water.. S Gear does all the guitar work on my new instrumental recording. 🙂

How ironic that as I was trying to record a video, I was talking about how annoying tie mic cables are, and when I came to look at the footage the audio wasn’t captured. I’ve ordered myself a wireless mic.. 😡

Well, looks like I have finished mixing my instrumental project. Just got to organise some images, get a few little videos together, register the tracks and then upload for publishing, ie making it available to be heard. Almost there 🙂
Just thought I’d share a snippet of my good friend Chris’s bass playing on my track ‘Backache’. Chris has played all the bass and is a superbly musical player. 🙂
You know you’re almost there when your mix sounds ok at low volume through a mono speaker. I’m no mixing genius by a long shot, but I’ve had the Avantone mixcube for about 3 years now and it’s superb. If you haven’t got one, you NEED to get one 🙂
Still progressing with my track ‘Backache’, plus it’s nice to go back to the original guitar files and know that 2 and half years later I know how to export / process them better. Just moving on to Toby’s Rhodes and keys now which are sounding great. My ‘record’ WILL be mixed before the UK 3 week lock down is over. Helps when you haven’t got any work also.. lol
Very enjoyable mixing my final track ‘Backache’ particularly when you have some lovely drums from Ben Stone, also yet to EQ but you’ll hear a tickle of Keys from keyboard wizard Toby Chapman. Nothing like having to stay in to make you finish stuff. :-/
There’s something ‘extremely’ relaxing about chopping out unwanted sounds from a kick drum WAV. (as we know, sometimes you have leave these bits in ;-). Good advice given to me couple years back by drum god @mrbenjaminstone during a chat when I asked Ben about gates...
And so I again enter the world of programming guitar gear.. Actually really looking forward to it to use with my instrumental project.
Lots of fun this morning at Matt Bishop studio with Chris Cliff 'attempting' to film some video to enable me to edit some snippets of marketing video together for my Instrumental Music project which will be revealed soon. Chris has recorded the bass on all my tracks for this project, and what a superb job he's done. 🙂
Sorting out a couple of my trusty Doug Wilkes guitars for a bit of a video session tomorrow with Matt and Chris for marketing gig my soon to be revealed instrumental project. For those that don’t know, friend and local luthier Doug has a guitar in the Dave Gilmore Christie’s auction inn New York.
Bit of mix testing on living room Hi Fi before sending for master.. This room is very lively 🙂
It’s easy to forget sometimes just how much high EQ you need to (LP) filter from guitar sometimes... much more than we realise sometimes. 🙂
